About this speaker

Erica Jones is the Middle School Assistant Principal at The American School in London and will transition to the role of Middle School Principal in 2025. Since moving to London in 2019, Erica has brought her extensive experience in education to the international stage. Previously, she taught High School History at The Thacher School in California and The Dalton School in New York City, and she later served as Assistant Head of Upper School and Dean of Students at Friends Seminary. Additionally, Erica worked at the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she spent two summers as Deputy Director of the Global Scholars Program.

A sought-after consultant and keynote speaker, Erica has worked with independent schools, non-profits, and international organizations. Her expertise spans diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, intersectionality, feminism, inclusive hiring practices, affinity groups, curriculum development in K-12 history and humanities, and peer leadership programs.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Erica holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and African and African American Studies from Dartmouth College and a master’s degree in Private School Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.

In her free time, Erica is passionate about Black literature, Black feminist scholarship, and writing. She also enjoys traveling, visiting museums, going to brunch, and exploring used and independent bookstores in London and around the world.
