About this speaker
My name is Nicole and I am mom to twins Ross and Phoebe and furbaby, Meryl Streep. I am a disabled single mom. I have Spina Bifida and I walk with a cane and wear an AFO. My son has autism and SPD. My daughter has ODD and a learning disorder. Both of my kids have ADHD. I am a former U.S. Federal Government Employee who left the US to worldschool with my kids in 2018.
I grew up as a military brat and I lived in Germany, Japan, and Hawaii. From a young age, I developed a love and appreciation for other cultures and countries. I wanted to give my kids a similar experience, so they could experience the world hands on versus via only school books. Since we began our worldschooling journey, we have lived in Mexico, Colombia, Scotland, South Africa, Portugal, and France. We have traveled to many more countries.
I have an educational background in Sociology and Gender and Women's Studies. I obtained my 2nd Masters in Social Anthropology from the University of St. Andrews. I was attending the University of Cape Town for a PhD in Social Anthropology, but that is currently on pause.
My kids have attended a public school in both Scotland and France. In other countries, where homeschooling is allowed, my kids have used Power Homeschool online.
We were featured in an episode of House Hunters International for our move to Scotland "Succeeding in Scotland". Recently, I volunteered for the Paris 2024 Olympics. I have been featured in numerous Podcasts, as well as Alpha Gamma Delta Magazine, newspaper articles, and as a speaker in numerous expos as an industry leader of traveling and living abroad with a disabiity.
My aim is to help those with disabilities and those who are parents of children with disabilities, see that they can travel and live abroad.
